The wheels are spinning...the little hamster wheel in my brain and the sewing machine's fly wheel..I'm taking Mary Ann Moss's wonderful online class, The Remains of the Day . Looking for something to brighten these dreary January days and long, dark evenings? THIS is the ticket. Sewing machine required, but very rudimentary skills. As Mary Ann says, "I'm a guerilla sewer." Ditto here. She offers 29 videos and a very readable PDF to give you all the mad skills you need to make a journal from what you already have. I just finished my journal cover which was made from fabric scraps I had stashed in the studio closet and my sewing machine. Soooo satisfying! No pun intended.
This is the collage look of the open cover. Love it! Whatever scraps you have laying around, they will make a really cool journal cover.
And now onto the journal pages. I've got a bunch of paper from my collage/scrap bins all laid out on my kitchen table waiting for some stitching and piecing together...
...and I'll have a new journal! Beauty really is where you find it...like in that stack of stuff you never use. So dust off the Singer, dial up your favorite playlist and sign up for Remains of the Day. Let's see what our scrap bins and the last few weeks of January can make.
