It's been another one of those weeks around here. Maybe it's just the energy of early spring spiraling up towards more activity, but I have a lot on my personal plate right now. But...I did sneak in a few hours over at Susan Wechsler's wonderful mosaic studio to work on my mosaic mandala. The bare bones began a couple of weeks ago and my mandala will hang on the wall with a clear cast buddah and a candle to illuminate. For me, this is a lot like collage - with big nippers, china cups and plates, and glass shards.
Susan's sunny studio is the perfect place to crack our found and hoarded china to work into our splintered creations. Lots of contemplation and then careful nipping and placing and gluing. It's like a huge jigsaw puzzle, seeing where and how the broken shapes and colors fit together to make a new whole.
This piece is SO lovely!....happy that I get to hang around and watch it unfold as I nip, clip and glue...

Wow! What is on the edges? These are such pretty floral-like images you're building up. This is going to be a stunner. I look forward to seeing more.
